Ancient Arabian Date and Lamb Stew
INGREDIENTS:
-
1 lb lamb stew meat, cut into chunks
-
1 large onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp olive oil
-
1 cup pitted dates, chopped
-
2 tbsp Cali Date Syrup
-
1 tsp ground cumin
-
1 tsp ground coriander
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
3 cups lamb or vegetable broth
-
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
-
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Brown the lamb for 5–7 minutes, then add onion and garlic, sautéing until softened. Stir in cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper, cooking for a minute to toast the spices.
-
Pour in broth to deglaze the pot, then add chopped dates and Cali Date Syrup. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat, and cook covered for 1–1.5 hours until the lamb is tender and flavors meld.
-
Serve in bowls, garnished with fresh cilantro if desired. Pair with flatbread or rice and enjoy the sweet-savory harmony of this ancient-inspired dish.
